| Introduction
Sound Toll Registers Online consists of two databases:
Database 1 for all years before 1634.
Before 1634, each individual passage was recorded in one ore several entries in the original Sound Toll Registers and, consequently, has been entered in one or several records in database 1.
The several entries for one passage in the original STR are always located in different registers (sections) of the STR, each containing a particular aspect of the passages - such as a specific tax or cargo.
For this reason database 1 is only truly useful after the individual passages have been reconstructed from the relevant database records.
We have included a tool in database 1 which the user can apply to reconstruct the individual passages.
Database 2 for all years after 1633.
After 1633, each individual passage was recorded in one entry in the original Sound Toll Registers and, consequently, has been entered in one record in database 2.
